Conference Host

On behalf of the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research (C-PAN), Deakin University, I welcome you to Melbourne for the 10th annual ISBNPA conference. It is fitting that attendance at this conference, the first to be held in the southern hemisphere since the Society was formed, has exceeded attendance at all previous ISBNPA conferences!

The fact that well over 600 people have registered for the conference tells us at least two important things. Firstly researchers, practitioners and policy makers - many who have spent between 15 and 30 hours travelling to Melbourne - get enormous value out of ISBNPA. Secondly, the strong interest in the conference confirms that ISBNPA has matured as a professional Society and is now a key player in disseminating the best international evidence regarding the promotion of healthy eating and physical activity.

I hope that your time in Melbourne will be enjoyable. While the weather may not be kind, the hospitality should more than make up for this. I hope you can find time to take the opportunity to visit Melbourne's cafes and restaurants, its many parks and art galleries, and also take advantage of its fantastic sporting and recreational facilities. There are also great day trips you can take to get out of the city and visit places like the Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges and Great Ocean Road.

If there is anything we can do to make the conference or your stay more enjoyable, please don't hesitate to approach the conference registration desk and ask for help or advice.
